This villa called Glass Box overlooks the beautiful skyline of Alasatouba, Brazil. On a 308 ㎡ triangular plot design, we chose to face its main facade to the north and encourage people to think about the horizon with its secluded location.
We have created a loose “glass box” on two simple structures where walking in its private areas evokes the experience and feeling of a floating walkway towards the horizon. Through the study of insulation and ventilation, we have developed the volume of the north-facing projection, so we can explore the extension of the natural landscape with the lightness of its metal structure while walking. We enter the upper level through a staircase made of folded metal plates, which are not in contact with its base. The base is made of brick in the shape of a gazebo, which is the transition from concrete to steel, according to the execution of the project. On the upper level, there is a private area of the suite and master suite, connected by a loop of glass tops that evoke a sense of expansion as you walk along the skyline. The brickwork on the lower level forms a corridor, which we named the Open Square. Displays changes and cognitions of gaps associated with each other at different levels of the item.
