MOU Construction Company | 8Ping, Changzhou Apartment House - Level 5

The project is located in a high-rise apartment house in Changzhou, with a usable area of about 25m². The original space is a large open space with only a large floor-to-ceiling window on the east side for lighting and ventilation. In front of the apartment building is a commercial complex under construction, and formerly an artificial lake, creating a tranquil atmosphere inside this ultra-small unit module and achieving a living experience of nature outside is our beautiful vision. This is the second residence of the client, who comes here alone or with friends in his spare time, to enjoy solitude, to feel at ease and tranquility.

The depth of the house is about 8.3m, the surface width is 3m and the floor height is only 3.4m. We propose the concept of “Escalator Canyon”. In a rectangular box of only 25m², the interior floor is divided into 5 different surface heights according to the level and functional properties, each surface height corresponding to the corresponding functions. The entrance gate is the 1st surface height, which simultaneously solves the problem of entry storage; the kitchen and toilet and the passage on either side of the passage are located at the height of the 2nd site; washing machine, refrigerator, clothes storage, work desk are located at the height of the 3rd site; the 4th site height is the living area, lighting and The view is best; the sleeping area is the most private and is located at the highest altitude of the 5th location.

Entering the entrance, the walkway is narrow, with towering functional furniture that stands upright on both sides, making it feel as if you are entering a canyon. The more you go in, the closer you get to the lights, the closer the space feels to the outside, and the experience extends to the outdoors. Back home is a mountaineering trip where, when all the features are in place, a narrow valley forms in the middle, with a bright opening at the end of the valley. Although each ladder is given different functions, these spaces are closely connected by an open plane and a form of high and low falls. This setting increases the usable area and counteracts the negative atmosphere of a narrow space. In addition, the natural wood texture and large windows introduce air and sunlight into the room, creating a well-ventilated and luminous environment, creating a comfortable indoor environment. We want to create a rich experience of indoor mountain living in the city that goes beyond mere functional applicability.

We have integrated all the functions into one large space, with which we have designed a 25 square meter home, not to mention a huge interior furniture, from the floor, to the table, to the cabinet, to the bed, to the ceiling. In addition to its residential function, we hope it will also be an open, mobile social space that responds to homeowners' demands as a second home. Creating a surface according to functional attributes is created with no boundaries as a goal, thus fostering a sense of openness that seems to be much larger than the actual area of 25 square meters. It is a large space built based on lifestyle and the possibilities of a narrow space.
