House FN is a minimalist villa in Basano del Grappa, Italy, designed by Didonè Comacchio Architects. The project site is sandwiched between the west coast of Mount Grappa and the eastern slopes of the Ashago Plateau, recently recognized by the United Nations Educational Organization. Through the leafy tops of a vast olive grove, you can see the historic center of Basano del Grappa to the south. A key aspect of the design concept is to incorporate popular green plants into the home, which is achieved by designing a courtyard on the basement level. The first courtyard is located near the entrance and the second courtyard is located on either side of the garden.
This dual-function design acts as a privacy barrier to the entrance area, preventing excessive attention, while providing picturesque views of the garden and olive groves. A medium-sized volume appears on the verdant roof, inside of which there is a compact study with access to a private viewing terrace. From the street's perspective, the building presents a reserved appearance, with clapboard partitions that control visibility, balancing residents' privacy needs. In contrast, the building transitioned to the garden to a more open design, allowing for an unobstructed view of the slender olive groves, which also resonated in the interior spaces of the Gironau area.
