This 325 ㎡ courtyard villa sits on the north slope of Mount Penteli, Dionysos, Greece, amidst a tranquil pine-covered community. The program is designed to respond to modern lifestyles while evoking the sense of protection and familiarity of the original “cave refuge.” The design process is inspired by the prototype of the original shelter. This prototype is deeply rooted in human history and linked to the concept of “habitation”, shaping spatial preferences for generations, highlighting the lasting impact of humanity's conceptual link with home.

Architectural expression is represented by geometrically defined, structured, and multicaster-like totality — a composite and cohesive whole on a building characterized by mysterious simplicity. The overall mass of the suspended body is made of bare concrete and is the main composite posture. A prismatic shell encloses the private space of the dwelling. Carefully designed aluminum sheet can control the interaction with the external environment. The use of bare concrete allows creating an overall volume. Concrete is rustic and timeless, with a rough texture and deep symbolic meaning. At the ground level, the way the living space is organized is directly connected to the outdoors. The two contradictory qualities of space are connected by an atrium that acts as a middle space. The orientation of the land and the arrangement of the house along the axis of things allows natural light to shape and shape the spatial experience. Over time, every hour, every season, the ever-changing natural light changes the space by illuminating different aspects of the building.
