Located in Palm Beach, Onyx marks its strong influence in the coastal region. Onyx is eager to push the boundaries with its design, emitting dark hues and drawing inspiration from the inner city. Creating a personal identity and allowing owners to express their personality is a powerful direction in presentations. Out of respect for the surrounding natural elements, Story Design Collective chose to create a home that both contrasts and embraces the native landscape.

Onyx is considered an architectural experiment — an intersection of design ambience and sensory engagement. In size and contour, the house remains consistent with the surrounding architectural environment—despite being distinguished by its departure from the traditional textures and hues of nearby homes. Onyx aims to redefine luxury coastal living through substance and lightness to redefine the depth of the home experience.

In terms of form and function, the structure reflects a more modern environment. To cope with the new work-from-home lifestyle, an independent structure is transformed into a dedicated office space separate from the main house. In addition, a rich and modern palette of materials can create a cohesive whole. The introduction of the plate grille illustrates the warm climate of the region, allowing air to flow freely in space and naturally cool inside, while structural suspensions prevent sunlight. When balancing the reaction to its location and the owner, Onyx becomes a unique structure. Story Design Collective layers natural light, palette, and texture to create a bold yet natural home.
