Villa J is set in a rural setting in Gothenburg and carefully arranged in the nature reserve of Vättlefjäll. The terrain difference of nearly 6 meters creates a dramatic approach to the home by emphasizing and ensuring the persistence of the magnificent view of the lake in the distance.
A wooden checkered corridor leads guests to the entrance level, which serves as a transition between the parking lot and the landscape, again forming the landscape. Upon arrival, the large inner window of the front elevation blurred the lines between the inside and outside. Inspired by the loggia geometry of Roman architecture, which combines practicality and functionality, Villa J recreates the balcony facing the lake. THE TRIANGULAR PILLARS PROVIDE A PROTRUDING GRAPHIC SHAPE AND UNIQUE SHAPE, WHILE ALSO ENCAPSULATING DRAINAGE CHUTES THAT COLLECT AND DISPERSE RAINWATER FROM FLAT ROOFS. The shape of the loggia provides shelter to the outer deck, providing depth and proportion to the elevation. Travel in Asia, Europe and the United States provides inspiration for atrium floor plans. The house, in a simple square shape, is structured and organized around an internal courtyard, further emphasizing the building's connection to nature. The atrium is referred to as a memorial to the existing venue.
Public and private spaces are physically and intentionally separated by several steps. In addition, public spaces, entrances, kitchens, restaurants and living rooms are all adjacent to spectacular lake views. Bedrooms, bathrooms and storerooms are all located at the back of the building, so you can see the view deep into the forest. The complex venue orientation gives full meaning to the atrium, with an opening in the middle not only beautiful, but also functional by adding glare in the middle of the volume.
