The 130 ㎡ villa on Siena Way in Los Angeles is hidden on the steep slopes of Bel Air and the overall design has striking modernist principles. Since 2013, as changes in stakeholder and customer interests have produced three complete designs, the main objective of the project has never changed, namely: to solve the challenges of the site in an elegant way, while still providing sufficient space available despite the height of the building and providing for future residents Intimate home environment and a wide range of entertainment capabilities. Located in Bellaire, the project faces many challenges, including the site's steep, narrow street frontage, building height restrictions imposed by neighbors, and difficulty accessing vehicles. By following the natural contour of the site, the designer maximized the plan, pulled the building into the site, and gradually increased the volume based on the terrain. The result is an indefinable form of curves that is still abstract in architectural geometry, but with a smoother and more organic shape.

A specific block height limit of one level or more means designers have to dig deep into the site to excavate the extra area required. Therefore, the challenge is to reduce daylight to a lower level. Two large light wells, one with a huge staircase and glass elevator, the other used as a sunken courtyard, with a sculpted olive tree, create the necessary sunlight and ventilation, making the lower floors pleasant and comfortable. The yard not only provides lighting, but also brings nature to some of the most commonly used areas of the house, allowing areas that are frequently accessed to the upper levels to experience the canopy and the lower ones to experience the trunks of olive trees. From the street, the house looks relatively inconspicuous, but it is actually quite spacious.

TO SOLVE THE COMPLEX GEOMETRIC SHAPES OF THE EXTERIOR OF THE HOUSE, DESIGNERS REVISITED CEMENT AS A SOLUTION FOR THE ELEVATION, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS OVERUSED IN THE PAST. The plaster requires only a few wires and looks almost whole and goes well with the bronze colored aluminum sheet on the outside. Unifying the interior is a contrasting palette and a consistent finish: the walls are white, while the floor and wall paneling are walnut. The whole stone is light beige, and this color appears repeatedly on the limestone entrance wall. A large amount of glass with a black anodized aluminum frame provides ample light and ventilation for the home.
