Waxi Architectural Design | 174 Ping, Yujiangnan Villa

Cozy comfort is always at the heart of the design of a family home. Located on the south side of Qian Tong River, the house consists of three floors above ground and two floors below ground, with a total interior area of 580 square meters.

When we took on the task, the preliminary layout of the floors and the local construction had already begun on the foundation of the original structure. A series of minimalist, flexible spaces have been developed to meet the wishes and needs of residents through the transformation of local partition walls, stairs, mezzanine and more. Throughout the project, large areas of original materials such as art paint, wood, and warm and simple are combined to maximize the texture of the raw material, enhance the visual ambience and tactile experience. A natural selection of original finishing materials combined with soft curved elements, the roof-style design cleverly eliminates the harsh shadows of the original sky, helping to create a more equitable space container.


Other rooms use the homeowner's favorite colors and elements to decorate the design. Natural materials and colors collide unique sparks, adding fun and variety to the space. Converting the previously dimly lit underground space into a public activity area by arranging functional areas such as living rooms, baking areas, tea rooms, reading areas, playgrounds, viewing areas, viewing areas, nurses' houses, etc., so that the life path can also be concentrated in the mezzanine and negative levels, increasing space utilization as much as possible. The specks of light, the rhythm of the water flow, the swaying of greenery and the life trajectory of the inhabitants illustrate the fluidity of the space. A quiet sense of belonging is certainly the most important feeling of living space and people.
