Yunyang Spatial Architecture Design | 71 Floor, One “Three Maoju” Residence, Nanjing

The project is a brick mixed house built in the seventies, a wooden hilltop structure, which belongs to the non-protected area of the Nanjing National Historic Reserve. It is waiting for the arrival of the new owners along with the city. As a “school district room” with more than 50 years of history, the new home of thirteen moms, dads, and Jiu-ju babies, a new chapter of the “Three Mau Ku” family is about to begin.

Designers strip away the original traces of space a little, restore the most real state, respect the architecture, preserve the aesthetics, enhance the atmosphere of space through “weak design”, as an important medium for welcoming the beautiful life of “Tsumaku”. The focus of the design is on the relationship between people and space, respecting the three corners of life. The home needs each other, to build a comfortable residential environment, emphasizing the fusion and independence of space. Increase local partitions with the advantage of a double-slope roof, break the closure of a single space, reorganize the space, expand the functional area, customize the exclusive living area for the whole and the individual for the three-door home, solve the original structural limitations of open and closed, reshape the scenography and functionality of the home.

Having an ideal house is the ideal look of a home. An old tree stands in front of the window, not knowing how many years it has been with the house, and the two have no doubt the most intimate relationship. Inside, the house is designed with an excellent view to the south facing space, allowing you to see the outside view in front of the window — white clouds obscured by trees, birds flying through the air, neighbours strolling downstairs, centuries-old architectural outlines, hip and bustling streets in the distance... introducing urban change into the living space. The variety of views equates to this house being private, and nature gives them more “wealth”.

Home is a place with warmth and the design needs to give it more feelings of calm, joy, sharing and more. As the most direct feedback in life, the home does not need to agree on a conventional style and a seemingly sensible design. It should be a place for the family to release emotions and seek freedom of care. The first floor is the main court of the house, divided into two parts on the left and right, and on the left is an open kitchen space, which interacts with the living room, where you can see the image of a family playing at any time. On the right side is an integral rest area reserved for the thirtysomething mom and dad. The second floor is the growth ground for baby Jukyu. There is a swing in the living room, where Jiu will sit on it, the grown-ups trembling, the children laugh and make their voices heard. Designers leave holes of different sizes in the community, these “channels” magnify the vision and hearing between family members, and I can always see you in another space no matter where you are. The source of emotion that flows through space is the life force of a home. The child grows up, but the home does not change, and the memory of family is quietly preserved everywhere.

Life is almost like a poem, with rhythm and rhythm, accompanied by nature, growth, circulation, upswing... A “three-made-nine” home that hopes for happiness can enjoy life more happily. Enjoy a beautiful family life; enjoy the colorful colors outside the windows; enjoy the streams of Yunxia in the distance; enjoy the melodies, slowness, peace and companionship of life.
