This is a private residence located in Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture. A unique 110m long triangular structure sits along the road. Creative solutions are critical to protecting the privacy of past vehicles and pedestrians, while serving as an accompaniment to bathing in the natural environment. This method is to design a concrete block wall that serves as a filter. The line of sight is coordinated by adjusting the angle of each box and fine-tuning it by overlapping the two blocks in certain places. In the single-line area, the viewing angle is set to one direction. The two lines overlap, and only the angle of view of the other side can be seen when the block angles of the front and back rows are aligned, otherwise the view will be obstructed.
The material used for the block is “CO2-SUICOM※”, which is made by replacing some cement with industrial by-products and adding carbon dioxide absorbing materials to reduce carbon dioxide emissions during production. Approximately 2,050 blocks are arranged in parallel, forming a five-sided wall 3m high. Living spaces are designed to “fill in the gaps between”. Calibrate the block angle three degrees to suit the conditions of each room, ensuring the privacy of the bedroom and bathroom, while also providing a spacious atmosphere for the living room and restaurant.
