CASALEMA IS LOCATED ON A SLOPE IN THE ESCONDIDO VALLEY NEAR THE ANDES MOUNTAINS OF CHILE'S CAPITAL, FACING A NATURAL PARK. In this landscape, cleverly insert structure while respecting the tranquil atmosphere that trees and projects strive to capture, whether in their volume or on the inside and outside of the building. The color palette of different spaces and furniture is solved in natural tones, reminiscent of nearby elements and blends them into the natural environment.
Entered from the top, the villa adapts to the slopes through a series of “suspended” shapes, allowing the water courtyard to be combined with local stone and suspended volumes to form the best view of the hills. In this way, the villa maintains its interior to the street, while opening the social area and bedrooms to the best views of the park and golf course through a series of terraces (visible concrete strips), which are the main components of the volume. The barbecue area is located underground, appears on the garden level, blending in with canyons and parks, ground cover and native trees typical of the foothills

As commonly used in Gonzalo Mardones V Arquitectos works, the main material is exposed concrete with the addition of titanium dioxide, which has a dual purpose: to make concrete white and, like trees, to help eliminate toxic gases produced by cars. The second material used is wood, which helps the house blend into its natural environment and create a dialogue with the wonderful landscape. Doors and windows are also made of cedar wood. Beyond the choice of materials, the sustainable scheme is both basic and efficient, based on the direction of the house and a series of illuminated courtyards, allowing natural cross-ventilation.
