The project is located in Shanghai and the house covers an area of 106 ㎡. The owner is a young man who has a cat and a dog. At the beginning of the design, the owners told us: the desire to have a “small black house” that can quickly unleash the imagination can be messy, but it must be fun. Collected art, travel souvenirs, books, toys will be housed in the house. At night, you will be able to watch movies, listen to music, read, listen to rain or get sleepy. It was the need for this “small black house” that prompted the entry point for this design.

Design Overview:

Given that the overall space is limited by the building's load-bearing walls, we cannot make more changes to the space. Therefore, we strive to explore in terms of color, texture, and texture: bright or dull; smooth or rough; delicate or coarse.

Guests/Restaurant

Pure white dining and living rooms simplify the space to the maximum, making it a simple background that can accommodate the diversity of soft furnishings.

Study Room

THE ENTRANCE TO THE STUDY ROOM IS A SPECIALLY CUSTOM-MADE TRIPLE GLAZED GLASS DOOR. The texture of the glass presents a rich glow at different viewing angles. It is the mysterious entrance to “Little Black House”.
The study is based on dark gray concrete, leaving a scarlet sandstone wall as a “breathing point”. Full of Turkish carpets are a rich ink in the space, pushing the atmosphere to the highest point. In the study room, the clash of different styles can be seen everywhere. Ruino-style Metalsistem aluminum system rack with delicate black lambskin falcon chair; art collections in various period styles: Pop art by Keith Haring, expressionist paintings by Henriette.

washrooms

A more daring design change point for the bathroom is: transforming the northeast corner of the living room balcony into an open shower area. On the space, the toilet north of the living room, south of the bedroom, forms a separate line of movement.
