Residential design begins with understanding owners' living needs and living conditions, and helping owners comb out a prime position from the needs. The owner of the project is a primary school English teacher who enjoys a home that is free to live. Whether it's watching, reading, building Lego, lying alone or hanging out with friends, it's her way of connecting with the world. Home, as a living space to “carry the day to day,” is often also a spiritual realm where we explore inward and strengthen our inner richness.
What fascinates us most in residential design is often the emotion of the space and the mental experience that people inhabit. Since the owners of this project love to stay at home for a long time, we want to make the limited “home” space less monotonous through effective design, so that the owner's life can be more diverse, thus creating a spiritual world that is unique to her — a world in a world. People can walk around, stay and feel the variety of spatial experiences and lifestyles in which they want.
Space settings for white color
The spaces we understand can be gendered to some extent depending on the user. The owner is a woman, so we borrowed the design concept of “white, warm taste” from Japanese architect Jima and Sei, and put white as the main theme of the design. On the one hand, we create a hazy warm, constantly separated indoor-outdoor space with white fantasy curtains and shaggy curtains; on the other hand, after communicating well with the owners and understanding that they do not need too many rooms, we open the originally closed, inward-facing living room, balcony, bedroom and restaurant, public space. Maximize to create a more open, transparent and borderless living experience. The gender characteristics of the space likewise embody the details of the dynamic flow from the entrance to the interior of the dwelling. For example, considering the subtle differences in the use of door handles in winter, each chair carefully selected to match the long table, and the small ornaments on cork boards that serve as a decoration... the owner is a delicate and refined woman.
Flexibility in the use of space
The free-flow layout also maximizes the experience of the space: the small study room has the option of folding sliding doors that can be opened; the boundaries of the kitchen and the restaurant are separated only by the bar counter; the book wall and the bar table form a circular flow line through the long table. The long desk reinforces the sense of space facing south and north, creating a dramatic tension with the private study room, providing owners with more varied office options. The idea behind the establishment of the maid bar was that the owner had a costume designer friend. From time to time, two people can take a look at the wine tasting on a canvas, or a couple lounging on the sofa in the living room for a more comfortable view. The living room is not a traditional TV cabinet or background wall. We hope that even without a TV, the space of the living room remains complete, and the scenic TV both satisfies the functional requirements and is also a good decoration. “Place and stay” was once a unique way of life for the ancients, embodying the humble attitude of the ancients towards nature. We want to provide the owners with a private space facing nature and create a special way of life: living in a place, watching the clouds, feeling the wind, listening to the rain, watching the moon, cooking tea on the stove... The “Guanun-tatami” also comes from this.
Random interaction of light and light with nature
Reflected by light, we mean the extent to which light is maximally extended into space. Through an extended green oxygen bar and translucent glass brick design, direct light softly liquefies and conveys the blurring of space; penetrating greenery acts as a “nodule” connecting the “nodule” with the living room, providing natural air purification. The instrument is an eyeshadow pen for white space. Abundant natural light and lush greenery everywhere make the space change over time. Appropriate design leaves the overall picture more pure in harmony and makes simple spaces more livable.
