In 2017, the architect promised the contractor a one-sided “dissolved pixel wall” — a structure that began as a completely intact but gradually disintegrated structure in the air. They have a strong grasp of the commitment they made to that moment, but they don't know what the challenges and trials they will face in the future.
Why do you need a wall that “gradually disappears”? The architect wanted to enhance privacy with the next-door neighbor while still providing ample sunlight for the basement. To achieve both goals at the same time, dissolving walls seems like a perfect solution. Over the next few years, the building team paid a lot of heart for the pledge, spending hundreds of hours developing pattern rules and building systems. But incorporating this fantasy into a limited budget is almost impossible. They understand that while Physics and Photoshop start with the letter P, this is the only thing they have in common.
The construction team worked hard all the way and seemed afraid to wait for the final outcome of this challenge. The first site model is unstable, the second is too heavy, the third is over budget, and the fourth is fifth and so on... these difficulties are not easy or easy. It is not until August 2022 that the construction team is finally willing to make the idea a reality. At the end of this summer, the wall, as they had imagined, would rise and dissolve into the air.
