In designing the Van Sworth House, Meese gave an insight into the essence of modern architecture, saying, “Nature should have a life of its own, too. We should avoid overuse of color in our homes and interior displays to disturb it.
“Home on the Slope” grew in a landscape of pleasant trees, and the open view and the floor-to-ceiling glass windows made the designer think of Miss' “glass box” the first time he walked in. Whether it's standing indoors watching nature or stepping outdoors, the experience of nature enriches people's lives.

Housing in the Post-Pandemic Era

The charm of nature is that no matter what kind of mood you take to it, you can feel a wonderful release. In the middle of the day, the light shines brightly, at times it is gentle and gentle, flowing in, and the space is bright and rich. In the evening, walk into the yard, get used to the cool breeze, and the restless day gradually returns to tranquility, like the most turbulent lake, life grows quietly in harmony and silence. As a holiday home, the owner has clear functional requirements: 10 bedroom suites are required for a family gathering of 1400 ㎡; a five-door family holiday on the weekend; and tea by yourself every day. In terms of space layout, designers used all two, three floors as bedroom space, one floor and basement as common areas, and the recombing movement became the focus of the design. Designers have observed that in the post-pandemic era, people's understanding of housing has become richer and more specific. “Home on the Slope” meets the three core needs of living, working, and gatherings. The movement is divided into underground entry, staff offices, homemakers, garden plantings, ensuring a balance of public and privacy.

The House That Breathes

It is a breathable house. The L-shaped living room has maximum contact with nature in the form of a glass curtain wall. The sun can reach the deepest parts of the space, and the roughness of the walls and the refinement of the space contrasts with the refinement of the space, making the whole house more rustic. The fireplace creates a warm area, a cozy corner, a place to sit at night. The furniture is arranged with a large carpet that defines the area of movement of the body. On both sides, chairs of different character are placed against the windows, which move the body with the change of position of the light, finding a place where it can be placed at different times.

The guest restaurant is located adjacent to nature, low-key, comfortable and unadorned. Designers want the relaxation of the holiday to be the core atmosphere of the space. In a rural pastoral setting, without a trace of time, people are fully integrated with nature, enjoying a new and timeless living experience. The forest becomes the best decoration of this space, and to walk through it, look up, like an unfolding scroll, this scroll is constantly in motion, and the morning twilight, the flowering of plants, the four o'clock scene, all bring a wonderful change to this home. THIS INTUITION AND INSIGHT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT FOR EVERYDAY LIFE. To meet the gathering needs of the owner's large family, the dining room is divided into a cooking area, a water bar area, a Chinese dining area and a western dining area. In the vertical raised area, the leaf-like floating chandelier falls, corresponding to the round dining table, softening the hard lines of space. The starting point of living in addition to function and beauty, designers want to awaken awareness and awareness of space. It removes the intentionality of the form, expresses the personality of the inhabitants, and the space exudes the atmosphere of the owner from the inside out. When one is in a state of freedom in space and without boundaries with nature, one can feel the richness of life and life.

Work from home

After the epidemic, working from home has become more and more, a cozy, slightly formal space has become the most needed place for husbands. Taking into account the need to meet at home, the movement is divided from the first floor into the living area after the entrance, the office space forms an independent, complete area that does not interfere with the normal life of the family. The office area is divided into lounge area, tea area and water bar area according to its functions. It can meet all work-related activities. It can divide the space by folding doors to meet the opening requirements.

“I think true beauty is something that can stand the test of time,” Bose Sugimoto wrote in Until the Moss Grows. Time has the power of oppression, the corrupting power of not forgiving anyone, and the will to return everything to the land. Being able to tolerate these and preserved shapes and colors is truly beautiful. The whole space creates a modern yet quaint tranquility in the context of tea. The rustic tea table chairs in the tea area, paired with a she-bamboo screen, paper floor lamps, and the atmosphere blurs from the space, making the whole office area more relaxed. Natural light comes in, coating furniture and objects with a warm color.

Fun of color

-2F is an entertaining companion area for the family. Unlike a completely natural one, the designers have poured color into the space, bringing a rich and fun atmosphere to the basement. The light came directly from the Gekokok well and illuminated the entire basement. Using the advantages of high floors, the designers added a mezzanine space in the ground floor, enriching the spatial form through the insertion and breaking of the structure, and solving the actual functional requirements. The main background wall underlines the oppressive feeling of the wall with a large area of color blocks. Designers are very attentive to the choice of furniture. A set of Mah Jong sofas in Rochburg are the fashion vanguard, freely assembled, side-by-side, stacked, and perfectly matched to the atmosphere of the space. In the bright light, the Gufram grass sofa, 42 pieces of long and soft polyurethane foam sheets, lay down to let the body sink in and sit down at will. More like a modern sculpture in space, creating a new non-traditional sitting posture that further evokes the fun of the space. In -2F, the Western designers created a place of residence, an inner courtyard under the patio, red maple and moss, between the prostrations, immerse yourself in this moment of tranquility in the heart, enjoying a wonderful time of solitude and energizing the heart. On the other side of the space, a basketball area has been set up high, making the space more lively, and the entire underground space is pleasant to move around, and also increases the time of parents and children for the husband and children.

Return to Self

After letting go of fatigue, we yearn to return to the tranquility of our body. The three-level private space is a real area of physical habitation. Designers want to meet the characteristics and preferences of the user, comfortable dimensions and restrained expression, all in order to give space to the heart. Create a low-key atmosphere of space with simple comfort and freedom. The calm atmosphere of space is conveyed in gray tones, and the soft touch brings a lasting feeling of comfort. An unobtrusive, quiet yet lasting beauty nourishes the person, allowing each relaxation of the body to bring peace of mind. The girl's living room and bedroom are in pink as the main color, creating an atmosphere of romantic freedom. Full-wall cabinets, round-arched doorways, strike an excellent balance between fantasy and minimalism.
