Situated between the Wisła River and its cliffs, Powiśle Apartments is one of Warsaw's most vibrant neighbourhoods. It is like a small playground with independent galleries, antique shops and sun taverns. In summer, colorful food carts and lively bars sparkle along the riverside promenade. A pair of creative young couples choose to be home here. “They chose a modernist residence,” said Zuza and Piotr Paradowski, co-founders of Warsaw design firm Paradowski Studio. They are invited to bring a fashion revival to the house.

In addition to modern updates, Zuza and Piotr are passionate about preserving the home's modernist roots. They did, equipped with fresh parquet floors, original doors and traditional ceramics and appliances. “The house is characterized by its modernist minimalism and the leafy aesthetics of the late 20th century. There are intense colors, round and sharp shapes, and a variety of textures,” Zuza says when talking about the aesthetics of gemstone tones.

“The entrance area is a tribute to minimalism,” explains Piotr. For example, moss-green walls and mannequin floors create a low-key atmosphere that contrasts sharply with arched doorways, pleated Le Klint lamps and curved ceiling cutouts. A highly polished dark marble frame separates the entrance hall from the living room in the distance. For the latter, there are no rules here. Scarlet bookshelf units, alternative metal lamps and shapeless sofas hardly match.
