Imagine living in a luxury residence overlooking Sydney Harbour and enjoying stunning 270° views every day. From Madeleine Blanchfield Arkitekter The thoughtfully designed Hopewood residence not only breaks with traditional layout, but also combines nature and modernity with innovative spatial designs. Today we take you inside this living space full of Australian characteristics and discover the stories and highlights behind its design.
Hopewood, located in Sydney's Darling Point, has about 90 Ping Spacious space that was originally a combination of two houses in a 1970s building. The story of this home begins with the owners inheriting the legacy of their parents, with memories of good times gone by, who want to breathe new life into the property and are ready to attract new buyers in the future.
However, this home faces several challenges:
The owner commissioned Madeleine Blanchfield Architects to redesign the residence to create a modern living space for future residents that connects nature with life.
The design team boldly dismantled the interior and exterior walls to introduce natural light and expansive views into the home. The following are the main design features:
The north-facing living area is designed as a seamlessly connected space indoors and outdoors, allowing residents to enjoy the sunshine and views of Sydney Harbour at any time through a large area of glass sliding doors.
The entrance to the master bedroom is cleverly hidden by arched walls, providing a private and comfortable seating area, while ensuring that guests can enjoy the beautiful scenery around the corner.
The transformation of Hopewood not only demonstrates design aesthetics, but also overcomes a number of construction challenges:
For an unobstructed view, the design team adopted the Vitrocsa sliding window system and hoisted it from the ground to the 11th floor. These windows not only enhance visuals, but also provide a flexible space usage experience.
The realignment of the concrete structure that previously blocked the view, makes the interior space more closely intertwined with the natural landscape, providing residents with a complete viewing experience.
The design team combines open space with nature to enhance the visual effect and living experience of the home in a simple and practical way.
This residence is ideal for residents who seek a high quality life, love the natural landscape, and are also ideal for family living.
Depending on the size of the project, a full-scale makeover like Hopewood often takes months to complete.
Hopewood's successful design has given the home a new lease of life, not only making it one of the most iconic residences on Sydney Harbour, but also showcasing the harmonious beauty of nature and architecture. This renovation, led by Madeleine Blanchfield Architects, proves that innovative design brings endless possibilities to living spaces.
