Located on the outskirts of the Swiss city of Lucerne, the villa is set on a slightly elevated position with views of Lake Lucerne and the surrounding mountains. Existing buildings have significant energy and building deficiencies that cannot meet the needs of customers, which is why they decided to build new buildings. The existing basement, including the annex rooms, was retained and expanded to include a garage parking space. The existing garden was demolished and replaced by a new building. The new building will accommodate bedrooms, kitchen and dining areas, a spacious living room and two bathrooms. The living and dining area offers views of the lake and mountains through the glass. The outdoor terrace and its exterior spacious awning and steel supports, as well as the internal courtyard, give the conversion a pavilion-like character.
The austere interior is characterized by a lime finish, white ashen finish and bronze oak. Oak as a building material appears on various widgets, such as furniture, fixtures, cabinet fronts, and railings. In addition to the concept of sustainable building technology using heat pumps and solar energy systems, the design also emphasizes careful selection of materials and their gray energy and transportation routes. The basement was retained and only renovated. The garden floor is built with local timber.
