Accidentally Occurred

The philosophical meaning of “randomness” is at the heart of the work of Korean artist Lee Yu-hwan, which emphasizes the least human preconception, expressing the relationship between people, nature, space, and materials. This complex, real-time artistic act that takes place in the present moment builds real photography and fun in everyday life. Momentarily. The “Relation” series of sculptures depicts an unexpected artistic event in which Li Yuhuan stood on the glass, then bent down and lifted the stone several centimeters high and fell into it. At this moment, the glass cracked and the ground “cracked”. He transformed the eternal, unchanging “matter” of nature, using the specific circumstances of a particular space, into an uncertain “random occurrence”.

Rational construction

Design and art are different forms of vector, but they have extreme similarities and idiosyncratic synergies. This momentary “randomness” is hidden in the unknown exploration of linear time, and at the same time constitutes a living, imperceptible presence of space. It is a secondary renovation project, the entrance to which is the entrance garden, and the semi-enclosed space overlooks the entire villa area. THE ORIGINAL HOUSE STRUCTURE INTENDS TO AVOID OR WRAP BEAMS, THE CEILINGS SEEK REGULAR REVERSIBLE CEILINGS, AND THE ROOMS SEEK TO BE SQUARE AND INDEPENDENT OF EACH OTHER, THEREBY ESTABLISHING A KIND OF ORDER IN THE SPACE. And after demolition, exposing the straddling beam structure and the nearly 10m high sloping roof and high-rise illuminated side windows in the living room area, the complex original structure seems to await a design re-intervention and active awakening, allowing rational construction art to point to the aesthetic essence and formal will of the space.

Construction of light Construction of light

“Light” is the lifelong pursuit of the architect Tadao Ando and its important architectural medium and spirit, “create the light of life in space.” By making the building a container of light, the light depicts the path of the passage of time, and the internal space of this moment gradually becomes clear and vivid. In the hollow core area, the designer releases the original beam structure, thereby shifting the visual focus to the “afterglow” of the high-elevation side windows. Inspired by a periscope, try inserting three conical holes and designing a certain angle of refraction at the top with the side window. Sunlight, through the refraction of the mirror, sparse projection onto the surface of the living room, shows the discreet, dynamic light that changes over time. Under the conical hole of the “light”, a wooden bench on the side, in addition to its decorative function, it is also convenient to sit and look up at your head at all times. The sunlight of the different seasons shines under it, presenting the materiality of “floating light”. “Close your eyes and breathe deeply, and you will change and the world will wake up Come here.

Happened by chance

REFRACTION AND CIRCLE ARE A CONTINUATION OF THE METAPHOR OF SPATIAL ELEMENTS. AS A DECORATIVE MIRROR OF MOVEMENT, THE PHOTOGRAPHER DURING THE MOVEMENT, ACCIDENTALLY UNEXPECTEDLY, ITS FATE MEETS THE CHANGE OF “CRACK”, THIS UNKNOWN “BREAKDOWN” OCCURS PRECISELY IN AN INSTANT, “RANDOMNESS” ASSOCIATES THE PERSON WITH THE SPACE OF TIME, Earth, becoming an artistic pioneer experiment of a “miracle idol”. Based on the individual needs of the owner, a clear dynamic partition is cut out on the floor, and the original southeast entrance garden and the living balcony on the southwest side are incorporated into the interior, forming a space structure that is oriented towards the west. The open zones are interconnected by a return path to form complex multifunctional spaces such as living, dining, cooking, reading, relaxing, viewing.

The entrance hall on the left side of the entrance emphasizes the functionality and fun of the space with a revolving door that opens between the doors. The drainage pipes of the original entrance garden are combined with the fireplace to create an upward visual barrier at the entrance, while taking care of the privacy of the room, creating a sense of “small and large” physical rhythm and a sense of upwelling space. In contrast to the uniform plane of the changing area, the book bar and the lounge area were partially elevated. THE ELEVATION OF THE BOOK BAR FORMS PART OF THE STAIRCASE STRUCTURE; THE LEISURE ROOM INCORPORATES AN ELEVATED AREA WITH AN ELEVATED TEA STAND. Level up, enhance the high and low rhythm of the space and the sense of ritual of the steps, and respond to the essence of rational construction through specific functions.

Resonance space Resonance space

In 1971, Rochberg began collaborating with the architect Hans Hopfer and launched a “modular” furniture series: the Mah Jong sofa. Individual units are easy to assemble and move flexibly to meet a variety of contextual needs. As the living room at the center of the area, the modular combination also reflects the unique living life of the owner. For open kitchens and restaurants, Western-style cooking combines natural oriental wood tables and chairs, highlighting the stark contrast between delicate and rough, authentic colors and oak rubs. The old wood form from Yunnan matches the elegance of the space, and the colors match the yawayao of the outdoor villa area, creating a lively, fun venue dialogue and visual synchronization. In the International Hotel Canberra duplex in Dongguan, consistent organic materials permeate all the way, simplifying unnecessary ingredients in everyday life, forming a kind of “minimalism” visual sense. But “minimalism” is not simply the removal of decoration and the so-called “dissociation”, but the expression of complex thinking, endless change, in the simplest way possible.

Whether it's opening the original ceiling of the “bad” architecture that appears before you, or the “borrowing” trip you want to complete, or the random act of art that “breaks the mirror” in the process of photography, it's all happening in the exploration of the unknown and uncertain, design, owner, venue, and materials, and more. It produces a momentary spatial resonance.
