Located on a busy street, Hyde Park Villas is designed to maximize the view of the verdant Hyde Park and city skyline opposite the road, while maintaining the privacy of the family. The challenge is to design a house that does not try to copy but with a modern feel to meet the needs of the family and adapt to its street view, rather than forcing it, since it will be two floors and the neighbors will be single-story.

The conceptual response to the site, environment and presentation was to separate the houses longitudinally along the middle, with the east side on the natural ground, on the first floor, and the basement for parking cars. This allows the building to comply with the height limits of the property. In the western half of the house, the designers decided to keep one floor and allocate it to the living area. The designers raised this section to 0.5 meters above the natural ground, which provides privacy for cars and pedestrians on the street, which means designers can create high and interesting ceiling heights and volumes in the living area, while still meeting the height requirements.

The pool deck and pool are elevated, so when you sit in the pool, you can see the lush green views of Hyde Park and further afield directly through the living room. High ceilings and large glass windows give the opportunity to see the view even from the back corner of the neighborhood. Raising the pool also eliminates the need for a one-story pool fence, as the height of the pool effectively forms this barrier protection. The pool wall is covered with burgundy Japanese tiles and has built-in landscape lighting to illuminate at night. CAPA landscape designers provide conceptual designs for front and back garden areas, including curved pond shapes that contrast sharply with linear building forms.

This raised part of life allows you to better observe the trees of the park while blocking busy traffic and parked cars below. During the planning phase, the line of sight is plotted from pedestrians on the street and residents sitting at tables to ensure that the living area is raised to the proper height to protect privacy. A full-height Vitrosca glass partition leading to the restaurant allows the restaurant to extend to the terrace to form a larger indoor/outdoor room that feels external but protected. The restaurant faces south and you can see the view, while the lounge is on the other end of the living room and the back of the house faces north.
