This house is located on the second floor of a building built in 1950 in the Nova Esquerra neighborhood of Barcelona's Eixample. The structure of the house consists of a load-bearing wall with 6 openings parallel to the street, including 4 elevations: two main elevations and two that belong to the inner courtyard. The floor is divided into two parts by a central load-bearing wall, connected in the middle by a small device. The house is entered from one end and its main facade overlooks the inner courtyard of the neighborhood. Consisting of a living room, a kitchen, two bedrooms and a toilet, it is located in a traditional, broken space. Total area 47.59 ㎡.
The project aims to eliminate random distribution and use a small central ventilated patio as a focal area by demolishing one of the rooms. A support was added to the load-bearing wall, designed to circulate around the center, and the rest of the partitions were dismantled. Combining the load-bearing wall and patio together, the peripheral volume of the toilet is raised, and there is a continuous kitchen and cupboard on the partition opposite the entrance.
On the material and color level, the unique northeast orientation of the appearance allows the floor to choose towards a clear surface that can reflect sparse incoming light, while the color of the ceiling serves as an element of warmth and comfort. This shade extends to the polygonal volume of the bathroom, softens its edges and contrasts with the blue tones that appear in the interior and extend to specific points.
