01 “Double house” essence” Double house” essence

In our known social cognition, life and work have irreconcilable internal contradictions, with double standards and different attitudes towards it. But Roman Roland believes that “there seems to be a harmony between work and play, and the two are cleverly combined, and the art of living emerges.” That is why we believe deeply. Based on the way the owner works and the particularities of the residence, how to effectively coordinate life and work, infinite closeness, “The Art of Living” is an important topic that we explore. In this space of 100 square meters, in addition to free office functions, while meeting the needs of living, the original usual layout was therefore broken and replanned by us. Due to the fact that the northern way of life is different from that of a dwelling in the general sense, the doors are pushed in, where the cabinets are thickened to 60 cm and serve as storage of wardrobes in the doorway. A bare concrete wall played the entrance's first wild note. The rough, “unpolished” original look contrasts dramatically with the smooth color of the overall microcement.

02 Subject intention Subject intention

Regarding the definition of artist, Kandinsky said, “Artists need time to take a deep look at the subjects' intent, to explore the spiritual inspiration of the heart, and only those who can experience art as a personal journey can be called a truly meaningful artist.” Similarly, a space comes to life for a designer or owner with a “main purpose”. From young and old, the “talented” walk to a free and open area, the rhythm of the movement and the mood change, and the atmosphere of the space that you want to enjoy. The combination of cabinets and Nakajima, the center's multifunctional long table, the bar counter area at the window and the desk area by the window, create a unique and interconnecting shape for dining, meeting, office, chat, and overlooking the mountain forest on the north side, making life and work more enjoyable. A real sight.

In addition to creating the theme of the space atmosphere, we also have deep thinking and corresponding logic for controlling the amount of light. On the north side the light is weak, we use translucent curtains; when the sun is severe on the west side, the use of wood leaves for better shading. A lifelike, corresponding window, in the form of a face, produces a subtle visual contrast. Fireplaces seem indispensable in the Western way of life, but when placed in an oriental context, there is a lot more meaning to mix. In winter, the temperature is zero, snow flies outside the window, the fireplace beeps and sounds delicately, the aroma of charcoal exudes a fresh, natural warmth to warm people and spaces. Vintage explosion-proof lamps from the Eastern Teutonic period of the first century, wooden structures knocked back in the old department store, bullet boxes in second-hand shops, half-walled stone embankments picked up downstairs, B'TWIN balance cars, art paintings with western or oriental elements, American retro and industrial style tables... different objects show off the hobby owners love to collect, taste and free sexuality. Between man and nature, objects act as a good buffer and mediator.

We constantly seek the mutual harmony of the relationship between people and things, to eliminate each other's boundaries and help us better enjoy life and adapt to nature. As for the individual, the artifact becomes the reflection and emotional bond of our spirit, which it carries with it the true reactions of our genes, wills, actions, and preferences. “What I Forgot” is not only a philosophical frontier, but also another projection of our beauty and interest. The instrument does not speak, but it tells a story about time, emotion, and history. A pair of theater chairs, a “Nan Fung” stone sculpture, a cupboard and a statue of a Buddhist king, an ancient wooden beam shoe changing bench, and various objects form a major “welcoming ceremony”.

03 Mode of residence

Through the entrance gate, the left and right planes are divided into distinct zones of movement along the path of the bearer. After the bustle, the quiet of the bedroom and the toilet begins to appear before the eyes. Separate washbasins and mirror cabinets act as end views, refracting and cushioning, while extending the limited spatial visual experience infinitely. The bedroom also has a versatile function, making it easy for owners to clip, view, relax and stay briefly for casual guests. The security guards made a separate dry and wet partition. On one side of the corridor, full of cupboards for washing machines, a small cabinet on one side displays books and more, and a hidden space between two art glass sliding doors. The fun and dynamic feel of a rich space.

04 “Useful” tool

The home has highly personal and customised properties, although with the completion of the design and construction, the equilibrium of the “home” continues and is constantly being improved, with periodic changes in existing layout locations or replacements and the addition of new objects. This unfinished growth process follows the activities of the owner Sui is also an important factor for the owner to get involved and give the space a lot of energy and vitality. Therefore, in the Book of Morality, the old son said, “A tool is to be used when there is none. The chisel thought of as a room, and when there was none, there was room for use.” The “object” here is not a mere term for “object” but, as a carrier of life, requires a state of constant “filling, filling, holding” until “when none” constitutes the ideal state of life that truly “has room”.
