Studio In2 New Work/Taipei 65 ㎡ SOHO Apartment
Designed by interior architecture and design company Studio In2, this open-plan Taipei apartment breaks the norm, inspired by Misvendro's Barcelona Hall. Many people prefer an open living space that has less separation, greater fluidity, and a stronger overall sense of fluidity. Designed by local company Studio In2, this Taipei residence embodies these tendencies. In this 65 ㎡ apartment, there are no bedroom doors and no extra rooms — on the contrary, this home is a private and relaxing space imagined for two. The apartment is designed as a studio, with each functional space defined by partition walls and different flooring materials, making the overall layout feel intuitive. Below the floorboards overlooking the city, a raised wooden platform extends from the living room to the bedroom and dressing room, giving the apartment a linear sexiness.
The finish is simple and modern, with ingenious use of stainless steel, concrete and tiles that span different areas of the home. Although the goal of the designers is to create timeless combinations of materials, they still want a little comfort. Use wooden floors and furniture to coordinate the space and warm the atmosphere. Custom components for the space include wooden kitchen cabinets suspended on stainless steel cylinders, hardwood dining tables on single stainless steel legs — and stainless steel lighting fixtures on the walls in the entrance area. But it is the orange beams above the bathroom door, the two ceiling lights in the kitchen and bathroom, and strange details such as the white walls that seem to float in the space that give the home a unique lightness.
