This lake-view penthouse is located on the shores of Lanco Lake in southern Chile, 950 km from the city centre. Located on the lakeside, the summer is hot, the winter is rainy and humid, and the temperature can drop to 4°C. It was conceived as the second home of a young family in Santiago, intended to serve as a refuge and promote relaxation in summer and winter.
The project is arranged on a single level, has a rectangular layout and a central corridor, with priority given to the lake view to the east, bedrooms and public spaces to the northeast, seeking the entry of sunshine in winter. A terrace connected to the wall, which will facilitate family gatherings and outdoor living. Thus, through the projection of the roof and the eaves, a middle space is created between the inside and outside, covering the surface to prevent the sun and direct rain in the summer. This large terrace board is visually related to the roof, as if it were the 2 levels that make up the interior space.
The house is simple and simple in concept, without ornamentation on the structure, allowing for a controlled and efficient construction of this remote place. Following the architectural tradition of the area, the structure of the house and the whole is covered with local pine trees.
