“There are three hundred and sixty possibilities, so why should one be unchanged.” ------Zaha Hadid
This project is designed to remodel the old house, using an area of 85 ㎡. With two children growing up, the original two rooms were no longer able to meet the owners' housing needs, hoping to have three independent living spaces on the premise of retaining more public space. We use the concept of “overlapping” to reshape the space by rearranging the space along with only one window, partially overlapping the space, meeting the need for independent space and providing a fun space experience.
The design begins with a concise layout and interior, without redundant decorative elements, achieving a combination of form and function in simplified lines. The living room is the main place for family leisure and meetings. After its “weakened” functionality, it reserves as much activity space as possible for the whole family.
The TV background wall takes the form of a bus door, enabling the transition between different scene modes. In order to expand the living space, the kitchen is open and integrated into Nakajima and the restaurant, achieving a culinary unity. The interior is transparent and bright, so that a relaxing and restful space permeates the whole house. The “stacked” children's room design is the highlight of the whole house, transforming the original bedrooms into two separate and interconnecting children's rooms through the “Horizontal” and “Vertical” spaces.
Based on the advantages of a layer height of almost 2 meters 9, the integrated “Up and Down” becomes a spatial “big toy” with multiple meanings and functionally takes on the role of a spatial hub. The two rooms are separate from each other, and the sisters live their lives without interfering with each other. Connected through the balcony area, communication is achieved, which helps to cultivate and build intimate relationships between sisters. The main bedroom style is simple, with a black bedside backboard and bedside cabinet with hollow stone lamps to enhance the space texture. A circular hole in the wall of the main bedroom hallway helps parents care for young children. The hole creates visual interaction on the space, while also providing lighting for the corridor. After the renovation, the main courtyard has reduced part of the area, and the layout of the two basins and three separate bathrooms provides convenience for the family's daily use.
