In Beijing, the yard is actually a familiar and unfamiliar place. To say it is familiar is because, in memory, the courtyard of the alley is always accompanied by residence and growth. It is strange to say that, against the background of high-speed construction of modern megacities, the courtyard has rarely appeared conditionally. In the process of urban renewal in Beijing, old age is still a matter of decent concern to ordinary people's basic housing needs. This is an old apartment building with an internal home, which we designed to make it more suitable for the living of contemporary people.

Preliminary analysis
The venue is located in the tower block of the West Side of the West Side of a six-storey building, adjacent to three side streets. The venue is easily accessible and very eye-catching. The leisurely working Toya Moms occasionally pass by to see our transformation. The original house style is south-north facing, like a gun room. The interior pattern is very loose and small, and there is a small courtyard facing the south side balcony. The owner is an old Beijing resident, living alone, as can be seen from the original living environment, with almost no storage capacity and storage conditions.

From the perspective of spatial relations, this project mission consists of two main parts: the release of indoor space and the reconstruction of the outdoor courtyard. The interior of the space starts with the central corridor area and extends in the four opening directions, freeing up the entrance to the space and maximizing the space. The outdoor part is enclosed with the interior of the embassy by adding porches and pavilions, creating a link between indoor and outdoor spaces.

Homestead
THE PORCH DEFINES THE BOUNDARY BETWEEN THE COURTYARD AND THE INTERIOR SPACE. The top cornice, wrapped around the perimeter, forms a rectangular frame protruding from the outside of the building. The dark gray cement paint and the white exterior paint of the building form a contrast between the new and the old, filled with the unreality of science fiction. On the south side of the courtyard there is a small gazebo where you can sit down. It is surrounded by soft plants, which gives the garden more introspection and creates the effect of a plant cover.

Owners call for takeout meals more often on weekdays, and for easy access, the entrance is a restaurant, and a submerged overhead dust zone is designed. The dining table is designed in the form of a large bar table, with a rough cement lacquer texture that looks extra sophisticated with metallic glass. On the other side, a water bar counter and an electrical cabinet are designed, including refrigerator, wine cabinet, direct water dispenser, and so on.

The living room area is used as a room for the owner to play and work, the functions of the living room and work area are superimposed, the TV screen and the computer can be interconnected, and monochrome gray tones accentuate the texture and texture of the cement walls.

kitchens
To make the small operating space more comfortable, the kitchen is open and modern kitchen appliances such as ovens and dishwashers are incorporated. The size of the home appliance is also taken into account, making this area fully functional. White integral cabinets contrast texture and color with dark cement wall surfaces.

washrooms
Since the toilet is smaller, the shower area is set separately on the balcony so that the dry and wet separation interacts with the courtyard landscape. After displacing the shower function, the bathroom creates a sufficiently comfortable and clean sanitary environment. Because it belongs to the dark, the easy-to-illuminate “blue air light” was chosen, opening a skylight to the small space, making the originally gloomy room bright.

bedrooms
An L-shaped clothespin area is designed into the bedroom area, providing ample storage space for owners. Walnut wood flooring wetting process using the bedroom floor and background wall is natural and calm overall.

veranda
The balcony becomes a gray space that connects the interior and exterior, and also serves as a laundry area. Push the door open and you can enter your own small courtyard. The right side of the balcony is set as a shower room, and the side walls make a clever opening design. In the shower, on the one hand, one can observe the landscape from inside the cave, and on the other hand, the design of the opening allows better introduction of natural light, which adds a touch to the shower.
