When designer Chih-Hao Tseng imagines he will share a new home with his partners, he seeks a space that feels bright, clean and modern. Inspired by the concept of the gallery, he transformed a 45 ㎡ apartment with mezzanine into a stylish and simple residence, giving a feeling of calm and tranquility.
At the entrance, a dark wooden door leads to the living space, large windows and sculptural stairs take full advantage of the four-and-a-half-meter high ceiling. Since the original space was small, the designers tried to rearrange the location and style of the stairs to match the white walls, mirrors and glass, creating an effect of magnification. The spiral staircase combines elegance and minimalism, like a unique sculpture.
Materials such as mirrors, glass, chipboard, iron, stone and mineral paints give the space a polished and neat appearance. The goal is to make the space look pure and relaxed with a gallery feel. The living room's spiral staircase, black iron railings and custom-made works such as marble coffee tables, bar tables cleverly evoke artistic displays and bring a personal touch to a minimalist space. The simple geometric shape of the house and the use of materials give the apartment a unique personality. Each zone and element has an intention and purpose, achieving a well-designed home that feels both practical and inspiring.
