Set on the edge of a 3-acre plot of land in Chiang Mai, Thailand, this villa is covered by a lush flowering forest in the Chompine district. The purpose of the owners is to protect the natural ecosystem with minimal intervention. The building is located on the non-boundary edge of the area and sits in existing trees, as a natural observation space. THE LAND EXTENDS FROM THE ROAD TO A VAST AROMATIC FOREST, DIVIDED BY A COMMUNITY RIVER THAT RUNS THROUGH DRAGON'S EYE ORCHARD. The walls of the building itself act as an isolated privacy fence, while also allowing entry and exit. This enables air, wind, and community sounds to enable residents to fully engage with the natural environment through vision and touch.
The main structure of the construction method is simple, characterized by being formed from a roof with a reinforced concrete structure, executed by a local construction team. There are wooden grates all around, and the wooden bar grates are made from local wood, painted with black engine oil, which is cheap and easy to protect the exterior wood. The tranquility of nature and unspoiled wilderness, especially the last light before sunset, can be experienced firsthand from the observation deck. This space can also accommodate a variety of family activities in the future.
