“Fangtei” in the city
This design-commissioned house is located in the Xicheng District of Beijing, a 10-minute walk to the area where Laohutong and the Old Four Houses meet. The landlady of the house is a native Pekingese native, and when she received the commission, her mistress was just a full moon, and she and her husband hoped the house would last three decades of life for a family of three. When communicating needs, the hostess often talks about memories of her children in the alley: on sunny afternoons full of sunshine, she spent a wonderful childhood with a gazebo, a fish tank, and a persimmon tree. Find new ideas in the spatial context to create homes with natural surroundings, warm spaces, and deep aesthetics.
Returning to the state of the house, using an area of about 200 square meters, the structure is relatively square, although it is illuminated on three sides east, west and north, but due to the unreasonableness of the layout, the light is isolated in each room. 1/3 of the space of the whole house is a burdensome darkroom and a lot of space is wasted. Resolving functional issues and enhancing heritage are at the heart of the project's design. Our design studio is also in Altai, which has experienced three winters, summer and autumn, so the life situation depicted by the hostess is very resonant.
The open double entrance allows for easy movement and brings light from the west side into the corridor, combining the gray matte glass material of the corridor surface and the sloping wall treatment to make the original “dark space” the corridor transparent. You can receive a baptism of natural light even at noon with the least amount of daylight. “Fang” refers to the overall structure of the office space of the project. “Fang” is the original concept of “roof without walls” through the design of allowing the flow of natural light to be inspired by the scheme. Finally, the idea of an old quarter house and modern design ideas collided like sparks, and the idea of “Fangtei” in a city came to life.
The original layout of the house is four bedrooms, two living rooms, a kitchen, plus a cloakroom and two storage rooms. It seems that the space is full, and in fact, the layout in many places does not make sense. SPATIAL RELATIONS LACK CONNECTIVE LOGIC, AND THE MOTIVE LINE IS NARROWLY TWISTED. The original entrance gate, although independent, obscures the glow of a window on the west side. The new solution breaks with traditional design and takes advantage of the venue by adding edge storage and countertop functions along the windows. Removing the “wall of thought”, the space flows in a rhythm, light and shadow changes, is accessible from left to right, light and pleasant, and tastes like a thousand. The open layout, smoothly flowing pattern details, flowing geometric lines and flowing clouds all blend into a unified silhouette that reduces the boundaries of the restaurant to create a pleasingly diverse social scene. Coming to the heart of the space, a unified and varied visual impact pours through all the five senses, like a tunnel through time, gradually capturing our expectations for home, our feelings for culture, our longing for nature.
The male and female owners plan to have their children until they are 3 years old and do not want it to become a “baby heaven”. They care about children, but also claim to embrace their own lives and refuse to be “devoured” by the arrival of children. Therefore, on the basis of solving functional problems, the layout of the project is the focus of the plan layout of the project to ensure that the spaces are independently and reasonably connected to support the quality of life of a three-way family. The food island is integrated to meet the needs of the owner's daily dining and banquet guests. It also integrates functions such as storage, washstand, induction cooker, disinfection cabinet, etc. Framed views, the slim silhouette and lightness of the dining chairs are surrounded by the visual beauty of pure bamboo, or large or small hollowed-out landscapes, a collection of emotions generated when interacting with people. Ink-dyed murals blend abstract tones, juxtaposed with proportional debugging, just like a literary illustration.
The entrance door to the kitchen is a hidden sliding door, which can both block the cooking fumes, extend the entrance view, weaken the presence of the kitchen, increase the power line function, introduce more light outside the window into the room, and enhance the lighting. Demolish the original kitchen, sub-bedroom and storage room and combine the space to create a Midwestern kitchen. Double doors are installed in the inner kitchen, along with the connecting door, so residents can quickly enter the kitchen for cleaning or storage after returning home. You can then return to the guest restaurant from another entrance connecting the corridor, or use the restroom, or return to the bedroom to change clothes; in the bedroom or living room, you can also quickly access the interior kitchen from this entrance. Bing Ming once said, “Let the light do the design.” Tighten the core of the “Fangtei” to maximize the use of flowing natural light to increase the comfort of living.
The custom wooden doors between the restaurant and the corridor, each with more than 200 transparent square squares, both correspond to the “square” layout of the overall space and functionally materialize, making the living restaurant as a public and living area as a private area both connected and separated into lines and space groups It is very reasonable to weave. Consistent squares, which inherit the horizontal and vertical tone of the calligraphy, express a balance of harmony through arranged rhymes. The heavy colors at the end of the corridor, supported by the transition tones, show the tenderness of natural light, and at the same time attract the direction of the space, and at the same time captivate the contemplative moments. The tension of color contrasts, highlighting the cultural significance of the stone structure at the base of the wooden door, applying the structure and meaning of the square door pillowstone to the home, both the design sense of a modern mansion, and the dark lines of serpentine lines of traditional Chinese architecture in Beijing, telling the beautiful metaphor of the humanistic and artistic symposium.
Although the change of seasons is brief in Beijing, the contrast is significant, so comfort is the starting point of bedroom design. The original number of bedrooms is four, which is slightly more than enough for a family of three and an occasional resident. The main bedroom is located in the deepest part, connecting the cloakroom and toilet, and the light and movement experience is not good. The custom design for storage expands around beauty and living experiences, and both bedrooms and hallways have ample storage space, large storage space and enough privacy. Storage space on the wall side of the corridor is primarily aimed at displaying items, enhancing beauty and design. The designer canceled the cloakroom in the master bedroom suite and cut a window across the non-load-bearing wall between the master and the equipment, introducing east side lighting. The renovated master bedroom has excellent lighting on three sides. The double bed backs to the door of the room and the wardrobe, in accordance with the meaning of the poem “Facing the sea, the flowers are warm”, and the natural light outside the window is endless.
Take advantage of the large area of the master bedroom, custom-made wardrobes along the walls to accommodate the storage and display of residents' clothes, shoe bags and displays. The independent seating position uses the body of the bed to create a relaxed, relaxing and cozy and elegant atmosphere that always hides a variety of dreams at night. On a flat structure, it restores the basic functions, refines the local muscles and emphasizes the natural beauty. With powerful spatial organization, sleeping naturally becomes an extremely simple and easy thing to do. The flow of light reflects the form of residence and gives rise to the poetry of life. As the British architect Norman Foster said, “It takes a lot of effort to make a building look effortless.” Committed to creating a rich and delicate journey of the five senses through multiple levels of muscular interweaving, diverse subtle details, and multidimensional insights... The sculptural platform on the north side of the restaurant is elegant and chic. The arched structure enhances the sense of space and leaves a rich and cohesive visual impression. However, the “hidden facade”, inside which actually includes several pipes such as a chimney, responds to the design proposition that “functions must be protected, the vision needs to be modified”. Depending on the needs of the user, combing the dimensions of each part, integrating the original study room with the corridor space, designing a children's room with a play area, a reading area and a double bed. Custom grating wooden doors introduce light while ensuring the transparency of the space. The gray binding is quite rich in traditional quadrangles: ash, brown ash, blue ash; it appears on eaves, walls, walls... deep and light gradients, gray waves and layers are stacked, harmoniously and elegantly looking, showing the details light by light, forming an imprint of time and space.
“Strive for the fusion of art and function to leave life white.” From visual enjoyment to practical functions, master the charm of space with materials such as Italian ultra-white hollow stone, hand-dyed wood leather, lychee leather, matte stainless steel, rockery and more. Blending, harmonious and uniform colors throughout the space is a highlight of the design, which controls the relationship of traditional tones and speaks of the fashion of a modern mansion. Adhere to the whole, and then deepen the local details, in order to truly unlock the aesthetic understanding, comfort, and happiness narrative of space. STRAIGHT LINES ARE THE MAINSTAY OF THE ART OF REFINEMENT. THEY DOMINATE TEXTURE, COLOR WARMTH AND GLOSS, EXPRESSING THE CHARACTERISTICS OF DIFFERENT TEXTURES AND ELEGANCE AND BREWING FLAVORS.
The Art of Writing Embrace the Light of Life and Immerse Yourself in the Future
“The large flat floor design is one of my favorite creative spaces because I like Chinese homes. The design plan is a combination of courtyards, in a modern large flat space, I can find a unique way of living in China without having to imitate a foreign mansion and find a unique way of life in China and get a space with a study of the nature of the local lifestyle When I commission, I would be excited and hope to work out the space relationship well with the homeowner's background preferences. And the “only” way of life behind a quality lifestyle can be needed by millions of people.
