In this Singapore residence, L Architects brings joy to everyday functions with natural corners and nostalgic elements. L Architects deliberately elevates everyday elements such as stairs, windows and tables into works of art in residential design. The purpose of the design is to make the interior closer to nature. The entrance area already has a lot of natural light, so the designer placed a bench on the threshold, on which loose pebbles and fragrant plants are placed. The living and dining areas are located on different levels, at the transition between them there are noticeable limestone steps and wooden benches with embedded raised sections. These features blur the line between furniture and interior design. Following the artistic spirit, one floor has a finely carved quality. Designers cut large-format tiles into different organic shapes and lay them at different grouting intervals, bringing a touch to the floor. This treatment is inspired by the architect's personal memories of his childhood home.
Dark brown ceramic tiles with wrinkles and a lot of grout lines on top. I want to bring something unique and memorable to this family. I think having a strong memory of the first home is very comforting and precious. — Designer. Grid wooden windows soften the light entering the living room; a large stone and loose pebble carpet add a sense of ceremony to the shower in the master bathroom; the miniature zinc roof on custom desk lamps in the study is a tribute to traditional Southeast Asian houses. These are just some other deep, thoughtful, and basic components that bring joy to the home environment of everyday life.
