In the busy urban life of Hong Kong, most homes give the impression of being cramped, but FV House in Kowloon Tong, with a spacious layout of approximately 33 sqm, shows new possibilities for home design. Homeowners Faye and Vincent want the home to carry memories of their lives and expand the story as the family grows.
FV House is not only a comfortable residence, but also a space that coexists with nature and art, allowing families to find peace of mind in their busy lives.
Faye, the landlord, saw it by chance. Building Narrative The work of the design studio, immediately attracted by its unique design style. After deep communication, she discovered that design director Jeffrey was not only good at fine detail processing, but also cleverly combined their personal stories with spatial design.
Interestingly, Faye and Jeffrey had both lived in Germany, and such a shared experience allowed Jeffrey to better understand Faye and Vincent's expectations for a new home.
The design of FV House is inspired by three modernist masters who translate their design philosophy into the everyday art of home life:
Emphasizing the link between nature and space, highlighting furniture features with light variations and neutral hues, making each item part of the spatial story.
Emphasizing the nature of the material, using original building materials such as aluminum sheets, glass bricks, conveys an honest and natural design language through simple lines and texture.
Balancing practicality and simplicity, it creates a flexible, open layout that gives furniture versatility and warmth to a living space that combines warmth and beauty.
The designer installed aluminum frame sliding doors between the kitchen and the living room, keeping the interior and exterior interactive with smooth lines and cut-out designs. Such planning not only increases space flexibility, but also meets the need for family time to share time.
Floor-standing windows and translucent curtains introduce soft sunlight, making outdoor greenery an extension of the interior. White walls and wooden floors combine to create a simple yet warm home atmosphere.
The open shelving features white and wood materials to create a unique stage for Faye's selection of vintage furniture, while retaining functionality.
A fold-out bed system is provided in the room, which is usually used as a family studio and converted into a reception area if necessary. Red, yellow and blue accents add liveliness to the room, matching Jean Prouvé's classic color scheme.
The master bedroom is based on wood and white system wardrobes, continuing the minimalist style while incorporating the homeowner's lifestyle. The bathroom features tiles with marine elements, reflecting Vincent's passion for surfing, showing personality and emotion.
Use large glass windows and transparent materials to make sunlight and outdoor landscapes a part of the space, adding comfort and visual flexibility.
Combine beauty and functionality with furniture choices, such as multi-purpose storage systems and classic design items.
Blend circular elements and raw materials into the design to make every corner a functional and fun space.
FV House is a vibrant home that blends contemporary design with personal stories, showcasing not only the aesthetics of homeowners' lives but also creating more possibilities for their home lives. Working closely with designers, every detail becomes a vehicle for Faye and Vincent's memories and emotions.
As the name implies, this home is the starting point for their future story, waiting to be filled with more good times.
