Burleigh is a simple villa in Pasadena, California, designed by Breland-Harper. The villa is set in a lush green garden surrounded by trees and has been completely renovated. The grand entrance features 20-foot-high ceilings that form an innovative reverse layout. This new design offers three bedrooms on the lower level and the main living area on the upper level, including the fourth bedroom. Such an arrangement ensures a seamless link between the two levels.
One of the differences of this renovation is the careful preservation of the main original features. Three wood-burning fireplaces continue to play the role of a distinctive element, and the Koi Pond restores its former glory and adds a unique touch to the outdoor space. The architects carefully designed the new layout to enhance privacy while not isolating the home from the lush surroundings. Deep shrouded eaves add hidden structural layers, while complex balcony and patio systems weave outdoor space into the structure of the house. This configuration provides an uninterrupted indoor/outdoor living experience, fostering a harmonious relationship with nature.
