Located in the Zhongshan Park block in Shanghai, the project is the design project for the first residential space in a flexible studio. The building area is 50 ㎡, although it is small, it is good for a business model, and all windows face southwest. Due to the small open area of the living room of the original type, it leads to poor lighting of the living room. So we have interchanged the functions of the living room and bedroom to improve the lighting problem in the room. While the original floor was only 2.6m high, how to reduce the impact of lower levels on humans through design is also one of the issues that need to be considered in this design.
Considering the height of the owners is 1 m 82, we want to reduce the pressure of the lower floors as much as possible in the narrow space of the entrance door. To do this, we treated the ceiling into a concave structure in order to psychologically weaken the influence that the layer perceives on the person. At the entrance to the gate, a shoe cabinet is set on the right, in which a strong and weak electrical box is cleverly hidden. On the left side, an open hole plate display system is designed for owners to display flexibly after entering. The owners do not need to cook on a daily basis, so we open the restaurant and kitchen, while the kitchen still retains functional equipment such as dishwashers, hoods, etc., to ensure basic practicality. On this basis, we have replaced the traditional gas stove with a Japanese-style steam oven to meet the minimum cooking needs of a year. While making the most of kitchen corners, walls and seams, designing as many storage functions as possible and open hole plate display methods, these methods both increase space utilization and enhance the sense of order of space, while providing greater practicality in the space layout.
