Blue Hill
Sound is an audible color, color is a sound that is seen—Edward Maryon
IT IS A LARGE LEAP SPACE OF APPROXIMATELY 420 SQUARE METERS, A SUITE OF LIVING QUARTERS WITH THREE DAILY LIVING QUARTERS, A HOMOGENEOUS SPACE AREA EXPLORED INWARDLY BY XU XU, AN EXPANSIVE CONSTRUCTION ABOUT ARTISTIC AESTHETICS AND SPATIAL PURITY. Both outside the everyday and in the midst of the everyday.
Unlike a regular residential space, in this space, the designer combines two extreme characteristics of the home — the secular and the spiritual, so that it presents a transcendent atmosphere that is both secular and spiritual, but it does indeed carry a real everyday scene. Spiritual exaltation, after being revealed outside, functionality recedes, plays its role in imperceptible ways to fully extend a kind of purity and uniformity of space.
01 Blue | The Power of Quiet
The entrance hall is the starting point of blue, which occupies two opposite high walls throughout the entire elevated space, symbolically building the atmosphere and power of the entire space in a vertical direction. It is a deep blue color associated with seawater. It is a slow-flowing, dark-light blue that echoes the form of a cascading crystal chandelier hanging from the top, and presents, in a more expressive way, water flowers, waves, and some kind of vivid flow. Hiding the trend of movement under stillness, enriches the perceptual orientation of space, allowing subtle spatial tension to form here. At the same time, it accommodates the softness of women and the tenacity of men, mixing them into neutral spaces and exploring the balance between the two qualities — gentle, quiet, yet intense and powerful.
02 Geometry | Inclusive Trends
A space with a clean undertone yet accommodating multiple dimensions of detail and local colour is a highly integrated capability and a test of design balance, striving to blend minimalism in form with the richness of the experience. The circular wrought iron installation, facing the living room and the doorway, points in the direction of the entrance hall, while smoothing the prisms of the rectangular doorway corridor through the flexible curves, hinting that an inclusive space is opening up for Xu. The Gogan sofa from Italian brand Moroso was designed by renowned Milan designer Patricia Urquiola in 2019. The plump and plump shape is full of a warm touch that contrasts with the horizontal vertical top of the space. Interestingly, this contrast is not so obvious, and it subtly balances hard and soft during concealment. This is a very clever way to do it. The designers cleverly placed this full of rounded furniture above low horizontal lines, leaving ample space gaps, allowing the square box frame to draw a certain perceptual distance from the irregular, borderless soft furnishings, thus guaranteeing both openness and order of space, while also giving space The mood is full and soft.
03 Beauty | Quality & Fun
In the design of the restaurant, the designer followed the practices of the living room. Frame and order with clear and clear spatial boundaries, building a sense of unity and wholeness. AT THE SAME TIME, OVAL DINING TABLES, INTRICATELY CRAFTED CHANDELIERS, AND IRREGULARLY CARVED CRYSTAL DEVICES PERFECTLY REPRESENT THE PROCESS OF RESILIENCE FROM BUSY TO SIMPLE REVERSIBLE, WHILE THE COMPLEX PROCESS DESIGN AND THE SHAPE OF THE ARCS UNDOUBTEDLY ADD TO THE AESTHETICS OF THE SPACE. Fun.
04 Rationality | Exploration in the vertical direction
Stairs serve as a vertical transport route connecting the upper and lower spaces, separating public spaces from private spaces. The strongly boned staircase shape hints at the power of reason, with lots of light sloping down from the dimmed stairs, a kind of spiritual guidance. A red duck at the entrance floor, soft and cute, weakens the overall roughness of the staircase; color-related artwork hangs between the stairs, responding to the swings of color and light, creating a hazy and uncertain atmosphere.
05 Items | Relax & Relax
Art, furniture, craft collections, greenery, everyday objects are placed in the space, revealing a state of leisure, freedom, and scattering. In particular, when we are in this two-level activity space, the floor glass windows, which continuously rotate at right angles, bring in light because of the diffuse reflection, excessively uniform light on the blue walls, forming a lot of subtle interaction with the scene implied by the furniture display. It is a feeling of presence between space and objects. Furniture and appliances set the atmosphere of the space with their own shapes, materials and even colors. Between obscurity, between shadows and light, determine the relative position. At the same time, they tell their own stories in this way. Precise details are not easily discernible here, they are unified in visual continuity and replaced by the overall atmosphere, where form, light, and art form a whole, creating a calm, precise and orderly atmosphere of living.
06 Soft | Memories To Be Triggered
As a perceptually subtle residential space, its spatial emotional fluidity processing lies in the sense of continuity and gradient between functional areas. From the living room to the family activity space to the bedroom, you can clearly feel the whole process of calming down and gravity gradually shifting. Furniture in the bedroom creates a low suspended state, soft and stable, their role is tactile rather than structural, seeking a memory waiting to be triggered by organizing the atmosphere of space through fabric and leather. In the context of contemporary life, so-called comfort has long since transformed from functional comfort or visual decoration, which traditionally now emphasizes, to an inner art with the pursuit of perfection. Especially in residential spaces, comfort represents a degree of freedom that matches the owner's living situation and aesthetic preferences. The blue waves, day after day, rose and receded under the light of the walls. The light of the early morning awakens the deep blue, the calm is flowing, the breathing becomes quiet and full of strength; and by nightfall, the natural light fades a little, and the blue of the walls becomes deep blue or dark blue, and the silence remains the base color of the space, but more of a softness and stability that approaches the skin.
