APOLLO｜69 FLOOR, SHIBUYA, JAPAN - LAXUS RESIDENCE

Located in a quiet residential area not far from the center of Shibuya, Japan, this eye-catching house consists of two stacked cubes made of contrasting materials: the bottom is bare concrete and the top is composite wood. The volume of the second floor of the wooden structure stands out in a dynamic column-free design of 2.7 m for the parking area near the entrance. To ensure the privacy of the master bedroom and the children's bedroom on the first floor, the building is surrounded by a tall concrete wall with Japanese cedar stencils used to make it, which blocks the view of the interior from the street.

Living - Dining - Kitchen area and bathroom on the second floor. The adjacent outdoor living room features outdoor furniture and potted plants to blend the interior and exterior and create a charming bathroom view. The kitchen is comfortable, the ceiling is low, while the restaurant and living room are open, with high ceilings. This height difference changes the ambience of these connected multipurpose spaces, with kitchen islands and dining areas for work and dining.

The skylight on the north side of the living room fills the space with subtle diffused light, which filters through the stairs to the entrance on the first floor. Modern Italian furniture and fixtures, walnut ceilings and taupe finishes create an elegant atmosphere, while natural light from the private courtyard gently envelops the interior of this spacious, quiet residence.
