Set in a 19th-century building, Punto Zero transforms the classic linear plan with new planning and unexpected elements — while sticking to the soul of the space. “We want to preserve traces of its origins—old patterned sandstone floors, ceiling murals rediscovered in works, or original doors—while welcoming a rock soul through a series of new contemporary elements and colors that highlight,” Punto Zero explains.
The updated plan revolves around black resin “boxes” placed in the space, which are structural precursors. Placed in the bedroom — they replace the traditional wall, separating the sleeping area from other indoor areas while also serving as a bathroom. Long groove glass strips allow light to flow in from nearby “rooms”. The same resin highlights the new volume-dried room, surrounding all the walls. This, combined with huge movable panels, original doors, and camo doors, allows designers to perceive the space, expand the space if necessary, and vice versa.
The eye-catching element of the living area is a super glossy dining table with minimal lines designed by Punto Zero. “This is the prototype of a line that we are studying, looking for lines and shapes that combine the design attitude of the 70s with the contemporary spirit,”. The walls are adorned with a variety of works by contemporary artists, including Luca Capuano, Ernesta Caviola, Ariana Mata, Emberto Pinto and Jara Bonani, as well as a large map. “This collection comes from an old collection in Rome in the 1960s and is also Lazio's collection.
