The challenge of the project is to design a house with a wide range of architectural features, including four bedrooms and various social spaces, offering a high level of comfort, on the basic premise of achieving high land use efficiency. This is a decisive factor in the conceptual design of this project, which sets the tone and is reflected in the compact and efficient volume of the two-storey main house.
Placing the house in the warm and humid climate of the Pacific Ocean, a large floating roof that extends all four ways provides cover and shade to avoid direct sunlight. Likewise, the opening design of these spaces is conducive to cross ventilation, forming part of the home's bioclimatic strategy. In terms of materials, Zozaya Arquitectos opted for a light color palette, based on a dental plaster wall, complemented by the brown offered by wood products. The green of the natural landscape harmonizes well with the light tones of the house. The project is realized through brickwork and brick walls, highlighting the use of a steel structure with wooden beams and a “huesito de coco” board made of dried palm leaves. This building combination not only provides robustness and resistance, but also links with the traditional technologies and materials of the region.
