Casa Gómez is a minimalist villa in Queretaro, Mexico, designed by Jorge Garibay Arquitectos. Casa Gómez is a villa project designed specifically to meet the needs of medium sized families. It is not designed to meet any very ordinary space requirement, but rather pursues a simple method of construction. In the conversations with clients and architects that paved the way for this effort, several different themes emerged that guided the direction of the project: simplicity and unusual concepts embodied through form. These become the guiding principles that shape the final outcome of the project.
The design process is an exercise in structural form, manipulated through displacement and fragment techniques. The goal of the architect is to establish a rhythm, a pattern of elements that follow harmonious forms and aesthetic standards. This method is not determined by a strict theoretical framework, but rather an instinctive process, one that aims to encapsulate and truly convey the initially determined simple and infrequent values.
