Located on 20 floors of the Tower of Beirut, the designer used oversized floor-to-ceiling glass windows indoors to ensure a wide view and ample light to shine in. And because the light is too intense, the interior space needs to be treated with darkness.
THE PROJECT COMBINES THE AFFINITY OF MODERNISM WITH THE PURITY OF LINES, WITH THE DESIGNERS REFERENCING THE WORK OF ARCHITECTS HERRIT RITTFELD, LEKOBE, ELAINE GRAY, AND OTHERS, HIGHLIGHTING THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THE SPACE AGAINST A NEUTRAL BACKGROUND. The gray cement tones on the floor and walls contrast sharply with the lightness of the natural wooden ceiling, and the ceiling is also decorated with a Caldic “wall decoration”. The dark corridor and apartment entrance serve as a “dark transition zone”, and the multifunctional room doubles as a yoga room and office space. BEIRUT APARTMENT SPACES ARE FINALLY SUPERIMPOSED IN THIS MODERNIST MONDRIAN-STYLE COLLAGE, AND THE CHANGING LIGHT SHADES ONCE AGAIN ACTIVATE ALL PERSPECTIVES OF THIS MULTI-TIERED CITY: THE NORTH SIDE FACES THE PORT, THE EAST AND SOUTH SIDES FACE THE MOUNTAINS, AND THE WEST SIDE FACES THE CITY CENTER.
