At the highest point in the northern region of Oaxaca, Mexico, next to the ecological reserve is the Alma House, which is considered the last refuge of the client, where he has worked and traveled all his life. These trips produce a dream: “A man lost in the desert, his dying master's cousin found a mangrove tree as a refuge there, approached and hugged him, making him finally join his shadow.” The protagonist finally finds his long-sought space, away from the hustle and bustle, and the end of his soul Then I found peace.

The client was an elderly man who, in a steep and irregular shaped property, asked Espacio 18 Arquitectura to provide a house developed on one floor, capable of hosting social events, services and private spaces. The terrain has several advantages, the main one being that you can see the view of the city, where you can enjoy the central valley and mountains. The project is located in the town of San Felipe del Agua, which is a residential area, but still under development.

After understanding the needs, Espacio 18 Arquitectura created two volumes of concrete containing architectural features, paralleling hexagons like two rocks protruding from the ground, as if they wanted to belong to this mountain to adapt to its naturalness. The two boxes produce a central axis, which is the connector between public and private. With vertical reduction, architects create domes, beams, and windows with light, which expand through the space, sprinkle on the walls, and show residents the passage of time.

Understanding the climate of Oaxaca, Espacio 18 Arquitectura makes horizontal and vertical perforations that allow cross ventilation. In addition, the idea of creating two building blocks is to make the landscape the absolute protagonist and present it in an interesting way throughout the project. The floors are divided into: the basement is the machinery room and the parking lot. The first floor contains services, social areas and bedrooms. On the second floor as a private space, a terrace with the best views of the sunset was created. The villa is a place of peace, meeting and contemplation, and also a place for meditation in the daily life of residents.
