Commissioned by a young family with two daughters, the local architectural firm Pascali Semerdjian Arquitetos was commissioned to renovate a spacious apartment near the Ibirapuera Park, an oasis in the center of Sao Paulo. Designers created an irrepressible style residence that will bring the Middle Ages to Brazil The deep elegance of modernism blends into the vibrant cities and internationalization of St. Paul's.

The circular design language softens the clean-cut beauty of contemporary minimalism, while solid concrete juxtaposed with impeccable wood and stone surfaces infuses the space with a sombre sense of substance. ICONIC AND EMERGING BRAZILIAN AND SCANDINAVIAN DESIGNERS ADD PLAYFULNESS TO THE IRREGULAR SELECTION OF VINTAGE AND MODERN FURNITURE, COMBINING THE OWNERS' GROWING ART COLLECTION, FURTHER ENHANCING THE CRAFTSMANSHIP AND SCULPTURAL APPEAL OF THE PROJECT.

The apartment is divided into two areas, a formal entertainment social area centered on a spacious living and dining area, and a private area described by the architect as a “private sanctuary,” comprising three bedrooms for the family, a large kitchen, an informal dining area and a TV room. There is also a wine cellar and a separate suite.

After demolishing the broken plaster ceiling, the architect left bare concrete ceilings in some rooms. Due to the advantages of more elaborate striped patterns and rounded corners, the slab concrete panels arranged on the walls of the living and dining areas correspond to the exposed architectural traces, albeit in a more refined way. The latter softens the feeling of complete coolness of the concrete surface, as do the sustainable hardwood floors and wood wall coverings, the choice of natural fabrics, and the lush vegetation of the beautiful landscaped balconies surrounding the living area. Stone, marble, and agate complete a palette of natural materials, the latter for custom applications, including the smallest cutlery cabinets in restaurants and illuminated wall panels with integrated side tables in the living room.
