“The studio has been committed to designing a temporary space, elevating daily life into a small ritual of self-care...” Studio Gin&G designed apartments celebrate life with heart, guided by details of the owner's lifestyle and habits.
Studio Gin&G has built a shelter for the owners in this Singapore apartment. The couple and their two young daughters, a babysitter, two dogs and a dragon cat live here. “They crave a quiet and well-designed space that allows them to enjoy everyday family activities such as eating together, watching movies, playing with dogs and baking cookies,” founder Georgina Foo shared. Studio Gin&G conceived the theme of “Still Texture” to allow calm to flow seamlessly from one space to another. This embodies ample hidden storage space to prevent clutter, as well as “cohesive soft sand tones, plus wood elements, soft furnishings and accessories collected by the owner on multiple trips that add warmth.”
The original smooth marble was replaced by a polished new beige marble. THE WALLS ARE MADE OF MATCHING LIMESTONE PLASTER, AND THE COLOR OF THE CEILING PAINT IS ALSO IN MATCHING COLORS, CREATING A HARMONIOUS ATMOSPHERE. Part of the original wall of the kitchen was demolished to connect it to the living room and restaurant. A bar counter is added to the back of the open kitchen area, where the owners can enjoy the ritual of brewing coffee for the guests in the living area. Wall shelves on the kitchen wall allow family to show photos while traveling. The master bedroom's built-in bathtub was removed and replaced by a freestanding bathtub and faucet. “We found this immediately made the bathroom feel more spacious and allowed more light in,” explains Foo. Custom washbasins maximize sink area, allowing owners to enjoy daily facial care, while ambient lighting creates a relaxed mood when soaking in the bathtub.
