Located in Lujiazui, Shanghai, this residence is an apartment room conversion project with a total area of 42 ㎡. The main purpose of the design is to solve the client's needs for living, music and office in a limited space, etc. In spatial design, remove unnecessary decoration, focus on the function of space, maximize movement and increase illumination. The material is mainly walnut wood, combining natural light to create a free and comfortable space experience. Using a minimalist yet orderly design approach that satisfies the functionality while enhancing the beauty of the space.

Walls that define space

The designer has built walls stacked on both sides into the space, the bedroom area and the activity area are separated on the space, and the bedroom area retains a certain privacy, while also increasing the space's sense of openness and fluidity. Sunlight streams into the room through the blinds and onto the desk, where the owner can read, make music and play the harmonica without outside interference, and have a dedicated music creation space. The space has been chosen to unify the black walnut material, which resonates deeply with the Gothic, adding a touch of quaint elegance to the space. The integrated design of the open kitchen, dining table and card holder sofa saves space and makes the overall space more harmonious. The wall on the left side of the washroom area is curved, which weakens the sharpness of the walls and visually achieves the effect of expanding the space. Set windows above the corresponding arched wall to increase bathroom lighting.
