“” stands for walls and high walls. The tall modern house is close to Beijing's Ming Qinghu, and the huge height difference forms a unique view landscape. Relationships between new and old buildings are fragmented, or continuous, overlapping; we start from the periphery to create modern livable homes by changing layouts and materials, while also exploring the link between the “present” and the “past.” The project is developed around “Introducing the Interior” to highlight and enhance the unique views of the outdoors. At the same time, complete the “present” and “past” space-time dialogue.

Facing the window, facing the view

The long windows of the living room are a great viewing point in the house. In order to accentuate the unique outdoor landscape, we use low-pressure beams to wrap the overall dark wood finish in an overall package to create a stretched frame effect, giving the space a sense of scene and extension. Separated from the materials of the house, the wooden windows create a gray space between “inside” and “outside”, creating a peaceful spiritual place. The balcony hides storage space and temporary beds to meet the functional needs of temporary accommodation for relatives and friends. The open kitchen is placed between the window and the living room, and the dark stone panels and the continuous wood finish form a simple yet textural whole. Nakajima, which has a medieval atmosphere, adds storage space to the kitchen and makes the entire dining kitchen independent in the open.

Vertical and Horizontal Spatial Dialogue

In order to maximize the space advantage, the living room is adjusted from the west to the north, forming the “axis in the living room”, which goes almost 11 meters deep. This horizontal axis relationship not only draws closer in time to the old buildings outside the window, but also responds in space to the layout planning of the ancient buildings of Keijo, strengthening the connection with the “past”. The space is therefore more concise, with functions such as reception, leisure, dining and more. Longitudinally, ascending successively from the window to the gables through the ground - floor - stairs. Residents move along the “axis” across different scenes, producing multi-level visual experiences as highs and lows vary with different materials. As you enter the entrance, the winding staircase becomes a spectacular end view. We designed the staircase as a whole. It is thin and light, in a spiral disk, the surface of the shell is milky white, and the growth marks radiate from the umbilicus of the shell, like a giant “parrot worm”. The stainless steel ornament on the back of the “Parrot Screw” symbolizes water droplets that slowly gather upward in a state of loss of weight and blend together at the top. Stainless steel surfaces and ultra-white glass reflect, filter light and create unpredictable subtle changes in space as opposed to light. THE ROTATING STAIRCASE CONTINUES THE UNIFORMITY OF THE FINISHES THROUGHOUT THE SPACE AND CREATES RHYTHMIC CHANGES TO THE INTERIOR WITH CHIC SHAPES, ADDING ARCHITECTURAL ATMOSPHERE AND FUN TO THE SPACE.

Simply and truly inclusive

In the design, light up the entire space with large areas of light art paint and ambient lighting, eliminating unnecessary over-decoration for a more inclusive and warm home feel. Get inner peace and relaxation in the bustling city as the sun sets outside the window. The bedroom changes the orientation of the original space for better lighting and visual sensations, and the open view is infinitely extended. Look at the window and watch the seasons change. The bedroom replaces the finished bed with a wooden dressing table. Full storage and storage functions are installed, allowing homeowners to enjoy the convenience and speed of use. The bathroom uses an overall waterproof material, forming a visual sensation of a unified wall floor. Brighten the space with different light sources of points, lines, and faces to enrich the visual level. Through its shaping of space, color, and materials, the “dwelling” is both a living space that connects the “present” with the “past” and is a true embodiment of life.
