VC Residence is the latest residential design created by Lim + Lu in Hong Kong, which showcases the harmonious fusion between architectural minimalism and subtle Japanese design influences. This completely renovated 1300 sq ft (approx. 120 sq ft) space exudes understated elegance and elegantly surrounds the entire apartment with a powerful theme.

01 Origins of Design

The client and Lim+Lu founder Vincent graduated from Cornell University's School of Architecture, and their shared architectural backgrounds and educational backgrounds lay a solid foundation for the VC residential partnership. With a two-sided design background, Lim+Lu transforms the preferences and vision of the client into a harmonious space that truly reflects the client's lifestyle and life philosophy. Guided by the expertise and keen insight of the Lim+Lu team, this shared architectural vision is perfectly realized, ultimately presenting a living space with both architectural beauty and a relaxing and serene atmosphere.

02 Elegant architectural sense

Decorative plaster door frame design for each space, this innovative element not only adds a refined architectural feel to the entire space, but also a great highlight of VC homes. These expressive plaster door frames not only play a structural role, they are more like a work of art, bringing a rich sense of level and visual interest to the space. The design of the door frame cleverly combines modern aesthetics with traditional craftsmanship, and its refined lines and elegant forms make the entire space more three-dimensional and lively. They are like guides to space, naturally guiding people's eyes from one space to another, arousing people's curiosity and inviting people to explore freely in space.

In the design of the VC residence, the Lim+Lu team demonstrated a deep understanding of space and an extreme pursuit of detail. They demolished some of the original walls of the apartment and, through careful planning and design, created a circular path through the entire apartment, breaking the closure of the traditional residence, making the entire space more fluid and open, providing residents with a more flexible and comfortable living experience. The design of the loop path makes full use of every corner of the house, and people can feel the different atmosphere in different rooms. At the same time, this design also enhances the interactivity of the space, making it easier for residents to interact with family and friends.

03 Natural Selection

When it comes to material selection, the Lim+Lu design team delves deeply and makes full use of the beauty of the original and natural elements, subtly incorporating the charm of nature into the interior space. The natural texture of the wood and the warm color tones create a warm and serene atmosphere throughout the space. Exquisite wicker embroidery adds a rustic and elegant aesthetic to the space, while textured plaster gives a different architectural feel. The interaction of these materials not only makes VC housing visually more attractive, but also awakens in the minds of residents a desire for calm and nature. The designer has a deep insight into the customers' unique preference for Japanese design, cleverly incorporating subtle Japanese aesthetic details into every corner of the apartment, allowing residents to deeply feel the unique tranquility and harmony. As one of the classic elements of Japanese design, the large sliding doors are simple and elegant, the lines cleverly separate the space, while maintaining the fluidity and transparency of the apartment, adding a touch of traditional charm to the space. IN ADDITION, CUSTOMERS' PERSONAL IMPRESSIONS ARE REFLECTED IN THE CAREFULLY SELECTED WOODEN BATHTUBS, ENHANCING THE OVERALL BATHROOM EXPERIENCE. The wooden bathtub has a warm texture, comfortable to the touch, perfectly balancing practicality and aesthetics.

The spatial layout of the VC residence has been carefully designed to achieve a perfect combination of functionality with an open and serene atmosphere. This design concept fully demonstrates the aesthetic appeal of architectural minimalism, allowing every element and detail to shine and become a highlight in the space.
