When combining different styles in an interior design project, it takes a certain aesthetic to ensure that the result is not outdated or fancy. The example of Polish designers Diana Żurek and Bartosz Girek from Furora Studio illustrate that bold eclecticism and minimalist sophistication are not necessarily mutually exclusive. For this compact apartment in Krakow, they harmoniously blend post-modernist playful patterns and color aesthetics with Bauhaus, medieval Danish and Japanese style elements. Featuring modern, retro, and custom furnishings, the result is a characterful, elegant apartment that won't be overlooked.

The apartment has been reconfigured to increase openness and spaciousness, with an expanded open-plan living area in the center. The white finish combines with walnut finish wall panels and polished concrete floors to form a soft backdrop, with the designer introducing bold geometric patterns and shapes through selected furniture from contemporary Polish brands and art, as well as vibrant Klein blue. Chrome-plated cabinets and custom glass and marble coffee tables further energize the space, while Marcel Breuer's Wassily armchairs respond to the modernity of the overall design.

The apartment also features a studio space with a separate entrance, centered on a glass desk with green tones reflecting ample sunlight. Like the rest of the apartment, the design of the room is unique, with three hanging lanterns infused with a Japanese flavor, simple shelves with red accents, vintage walnut chiffon cabinets boldly matched with shiny metal tableware.
In the bedroom, light beige walls go well with wardrobes inspired by Japanese shoji screens and mint fabric headboards, while black and white marble wall panels cleverly add vitality to the originally soft interior decoration. In the bathroom, light blue tones are dominated by circular patterns, and marble surfaces add playfulness and rustic tones, respectively.
