Opening Opening
The “blind box”, as a trend that has become popular in recent years, is penetrating the way of life of today's young people little by little. The surprise of opening the box and the joy of receiving the gift cannot be refused by anyone, whatever the box contains is the magic and childishness that lies at the bottom of everyone's heart. The owner of our house is a faithful lover of the “blind box”, and there are countless dolls and things to do at home. As a couple of post-90s designers working in the web industry, they have great aesthetics and clear design needs. In addition to cool love collectible dolls, various cups, tea sets and small decorations are decorated in the home by the owners in a carefully arranged way. We want to be able to cherish the owner's love of life and, through design, create a home full of surprises like an open blind box.
Surprise in layout: freer planes Surprise in layout: free flowing plan
This is an old house renovation project located in Shanghai. The program is located in the 1990s subdistrict of Pudong. The indoor self-contained staircase is naturally divided into a dynamic partition. The originally traditional enclosed kitchen was demolished to form a one-stop dining space that blends into the entire living room. The layout of the South North Road brings better natural light and flowing air, making it the main activity space for the two owners - cooking, dining, working, chatting, reading and socializing can all take place here.
The Surprise of the Experience: Multi-Level Space
Surprise in experience: the layering of space
After remodeling, the flowing plane brings a freer layout. Partitions and furniture are placed in the space, breaking up a single visual experience, and the body travels through it, and the rich levels of space bring a variety of experiences.
Storage Surprise: Hidden Storage Display
Surprise in storage: balance between display and storage
Considering that the owners have a large collection of beloved dolls, the function of the display is indispensable, which is the part where “Luo” is needed. And as a home, sufficient storage space is also an indispensable requirement, which is part of the need to “hide”. So how to balance the relationship between the two is part of our focus.
Surprise in rest: children's fun in the bedroom Surprise in rest: an innocent bedroom
As the main resting space, the bedroom is treated to be more soft and serene but not restless. Blind box dolls are placed in the hallway leading to the master bedroom, behind the open door and look around, a doll with a wall, believed to be blissfully satisfying.
Surprise in matching: colors & materials & details Surprise in matching: colors&materials&details
The whole design uses calm navy blue and warm wood as the main tone. The choice of materials is also focused on their aesthetics, pursuing a texture that changes with light and light. The free mix of antique furniture adds variety to the whole space.
Ending Epilog
Home is a place of rest for the soul, and we hope that when the owner returns home every day, after opening the door, there is a surprise like opening a blind box, letting go of the adult's busy life, and returning to the children as real and playful.
