Design Overview
In this case, we understand the stairs from the first floor to the attic as the main trunk of the tree, and interpret each floor's independent functional space as the roots and branches of the tree trunk, and the different materials look like new and old alternating leaves. Spatial fusion is achieved through the matching of language, materials, details, and the bridge of visual points. Each separate space has a different undertone feeling and belongs to the same context. Decentralized layout with three functional modules organically combined with openness and basic functional needs on the ground floor, which can be independent and shared depending on the usage scenario. A room is set up on the second floor, and the attic can be used for listening to songs, reading, tea, working, a more inward space than the first floor.
Reducing design defaults, turning the home into a recorder of life. The greatest fun of residential space is user intervention, provided, of course, it is based on simultaneous frequency and mutual interpretation. Reserve and fill or expand. The default of a residential space is simply the conveyance of shapes or shapes, the final presentation and walking experience, and the mixed feeling of space is most important, carrying the last memory fragment into the next. Store and organize, keep it safe, it is something that is repeated in daily life. Emotional storage needs a safe place. A house like a cement fortress, a case that is hard enough, and it is important to allow yourself to accumulate strength and be able to communicate with the outside world.
Owner says
On that rare day, we stood in the rubble room with the idea of the chaos that unfolded:
“I want this home to be a private library, museum, cafe”
“I want to be classic, simple, but not useless”
At a glance, we've moved into a new home for half a year
Every time we take a closer look at this space
Will always be passionate about the beauty of every part of this home
Yes, that's what we want!
The same clear concrete walls of the art museum, the commercial-grade coffee bar counter with coffee cup display wall, the triangular geometrically cut roof library... but what's more wonderful is that it has a soul that matches our atmosphere. Here we wrestle, cook, listen to songs, play electric cars, meditate, incense, read books, drink tea. It is a shelter for emotions, a gallery of memories, a repository of taste. Move away from the fast-paced city center and “just get enough sleep” sample houses. Stay at home and explore yourself inward. For both of them, one of their busy daily breaths is to sit in a tea room or a coffee bar in Taipei for a while. Even, staying in that area is a kind of rest.
Space Walk Description
Up the stairs, the concrete texture merges with the diverse white materials first, without concrete handrails, and the staircase itself is a “box of light” that leads to different levels and retains the introduction of light. Arriving in the living room, clear concrete covers most of the walls, based on cold colors, light enters through transparent and translucent glass, diffused reflections differently on wood and metal materials, producing different mixed light sensations under different lighting conditions and lighting.
In addition to the more traditional public areas, in addition to the open functional space, a new coffee brewing area has been installed in the dining area, now poured with concrete island stands and metal hanging storage cabinets, maximizing the relationship between presentation ware collection and coffee. Embedded to increase displayable locations, embedded in walls, embedded in furniture, for magazine display and storage, and look fresh as the seasons and ideas become more frequent, connecting memory fragments to give space to reminisce and story. The second floor consists of a large master bedroom and guest room, outside is a corridor with storage and a water table. To ensure privacy, parts of the bedroom are connected to the ceiling in large areas of white, combined with wooden floors and wooden finishes, dispensing with unnecessary excessive decoration, giving the space a more rustic and balanced feel.
A small four-square “light box” was designed at the junction of the first and second floors. With the lights in the hallway, when the weather is good, the light can be streamed directly through the window frame, at the entrance gate. At night, the lights come on, and the whole space can be transparent as usual.
The attic on the third floor, which houses a tea room and a work area, which can be used for tea drinking, working, listening to songs and reading books, is a more inward space than the first floor. If there are guests, the tea room can also serve as the “third guest bedroom” in the house. The loft is more oriented towards a combination of functional blocks for everyday use. The corner space has a hidden effect due to the geometric cut at the top of the attic. Use this space with a wraparound feel to create a tatami tea meditation area. Make it the quietest corner of the entire space.
