Bonsai House is located in a private area in Guadalajara, Mexico. It occupies an area of 12 x 22 meters, facing southwest and 2 meters downhill. The owners are a young couple with children. One of their requirements is an indoor swimming pool, which is mainly used for sports and physical therapy. Therefore, common areas including living rooms, restaurants and kitchens will adapt to these needs.

Taking advantage of the 2 meter height, the owner decided to use half a floor—placing the social area on the ground floor and the bedroom on the upper level. The ground floor is designed as an open space, connected to the dining room and kitchen; the living room and swimming pool lead to the two gardens. In two different levels, perfect harmony is achieved due to the pool, unlike the rest of the basement, the height of the pool is 2.5 times the height of the rest of the ground and has a glass canopy that allows natural light to enter and generate a chimney effect of heat and humidity. Likewise, because of these different levels, the study of the height of the rest of the half floor creates a play space for children.

Upstairs, the laundry area and bedrooms are located above the garage and the main entrance. These areas have diagonal views, taking into account the landscape constraints. As for special devices, the owners installed solar panels and solar water heaters to make the house more sustainable and energy self-sufficient. The house uses a combination of three materials on the facade: the white of stone, concrete and iron products, and the rustic finish that continues to the interior — which goes well with the white wood products, giving it freshness and simplicity.
