Monochrome Midas is a minimalist apartment in Singapore. Studio Metanoia's design demonstrates the homeowner's monochrome sense of fashion, blending luxurious minimalism with practical elegance. The design tour involves delving into residents' personal style and privacy details to form a complex and harmonious living space that reflects their personality. Customers are connoisseurs of monochrome and low-key luxury, emphasizing the necessity of natural light and openness of space. Observations from their previous apartment show that they have a strong love for monochrome aesthetics, and they want to further enhance this aesthetic in their new home, while also adding thoughtful elements such as a huge dressing table and ample storage space.
The design recommendations are designed to reflect the duality of the client's personal style and preferences, similar to Yin Yang balance. This includes showing customers monochrome travel photos, creating a deeper personal connection to the space. Inspired by French interior designers, this team tries to blend high-end elegance into a comfortable living environment. The original layout has been significantly modified to optimize natural light and storage. The toilet has been replaced by functional worktops and cabinets, and a steel framed glass door now separates the living room and kitchen.
Two bedrooms combine into a private space with distinct seating areas and spacious walk-in closets and an attached bathroom. Custom steel frame glass sliding doors and concealed doors are introduced for seamless transition and minimal damage. In terms of materials, the existing wooden floor in the bedroom is painted black, which contrasts with the light marble floor of the living room, emphasizing the transition between spaces. Brushed gold stainless steel elements add richness, especially on dressing table legs and kitchen shelves. The interaction of rigid structural lines and soft furnishings adds depth and dimension to create an enticing visual experience.
